Pokemon Cake
A couple of years ago, my boys and their friends started to get into the whole Pokemon craze. Will it ever go away? I was asked to make a Pikachu cake for a friend's nephew and decided to try doing him in 3D form. I used the vintage Wilton Care Bears pan, trimmed off the ears and part of the face, made the Pikachu ears and tail out of yellow fondant, and then drew some of the details onto the fondant with edible markers in order to give it that cartoon/animae feeling. Since the party was going to be pretty big, I placed the character on top of a 12 inch round cake that I had iced in red, black, and white to look like a Pok-e-ball. I learned so much about Pokemon doing this cake!
